    Description

In our contemporary society, the quest for justice seems to be omnipresent. Decisions of political leaders, judges and large corporations are carefully reviewed, and seem to evoke strong reactions when judged to be unfair. In organizations, employees' expectations towards their leaders seem to be higher than ever. Leaders not only need to ensure that the organization achieves adequate financial results, they also need to promote innovation and safeguard their employees' well-being, all while adhering to high moral standards. In this block course we will focus on justice (or fairness) as a central theme underpinning these different phenomena. What does justice entail? Is there a single notion of justice or do different individuals have a different perspective on what is considered to be fair or just? And how can we ensure that decisions are handled in a fair or just manner? Drawing on insights from the management and psychological literature, you will acquire knowledge on fair decision-making, learn about your own perspective on fairness, and develop skills to ensure fair decision-making in your professional life.
