Database

HolyNet. Digital Map of Pilgrimage Routes in Post-Crusader Palestine.

The database provides a non-linear, interactive reconstruction of the holy topographies defined by Jews, Christians, and Muslims in Palestine between the Fall of Jerusalem in 1187 and the establishment of the status quo in 1852. It details the location(s), cultic identities, and materialities of each locus sanctus as well as the associated narratives and experiential practices. Furthermore, it explores the interconnectedness of the holy sites and their integration into kinetic circuits.
