• Can I access electronic resources with a computer located off campus (at home, for example)?

  Yes, thanks to VPN (Virtual Private Network) access, which allows secure connection to the University network and the unrestricted use of all intranet computing resources.

• How do I connect to the wireless network in a library (WIFI)?

  University students log on to the secure-unifr network and enter their username and password in the web browser. People from other universities can also log in following the procedure of their institution (see also VPN, Eduroam). Access to the wireless network is not open to the general public.

• How do I get help with computer problems?

  University students can apply to Micromus. Employees can contact the Support Center.

Printers and copiers

• How do I make photocopies?

  With your Campus Card, you can make copies on all photocopiers in the University's libraries. The price of a print or a photocopy is Frs 0.10 for black-white and Frs 0.20 for color copies.

• Can I print out the results of my research?

  Yes, using photocopiers that are connected to the computer network and allow the printing of electronic documents. Printing is also possible from your laptop connected to the University's wireless network [more].

Borrowing materials

• I work at the University of Fribourg. Do I still have to pay fees for books returned late?

  Yes. The fees as defined by the Central Library apply to all users.

• How do I view the status of my account (borrowed, reserved, or late materials, etc.).

  Please visit your Discovery account and identify yourself using your SWITCH edu-ID or your ALMA login.
