New group leader Stefanie Ranf joins the Department of Biology, University of Fribourg in February 2022.

Her research aims at understanding how plants recognize microbial pathogens at the molecular level and the strategies whereby microbes attack plants.

The Department is very glad she accepted a professorship beginning on 1st February 2022. Before that, Stefanie Ranf studied biochemistry at the University of Regensburg and received her PhD from Martin-Luther University in Halle in 2011. From 2005 to 2012 she worked as a postdoc at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (Halle). In 2013 she moved to TU Munich, working as a junior group leader and from 2016 on as an Emmy Noether research group leader. 

She will give an inaugural lecture in the department seminar series on Tuesday, 22 February 2022, at 11:15 in PER04 Auditorium 0.110.
