Content

Target group
This course is open to all students and staff of the University of Fribourg and partner institutions, and it is suitable for mobility students. Ideally, you have already attended a German course (e.g. A1.1) and/or have some prior knowledge of the German language. Attention: This course is not suitable for people with no previous knowledge of German (total beginners) => for this target audience we strongly recommend the course A1.1 à 4 lessons per week.

Contents and teaching method
Contents: Talking about themselves and others, describing and evaluating homes, making appointments, talking about plans, wishes, health and illness, appearance, rules, clothes...

Emphasis is placed on oral communication in order to break the ice with the German language and to actively practice and use the German language together with other international participants.

Time commitment and test
Regular participation in the course (at least 80% attendance) is obligatory. It is important to allow at least 2 hours for preparation and follow-up and to attend the course regularly, as we cover new topics each week in the sense of a "fast course" - the progression is very steep and requires weekly practice at home.

At the end of the semester there is a written test divided into reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Active participation in the numerous oral exercises is also required.

Course materials
For this course the textbook Momente A1.2 from hueber must be purchased.
