Which examination fee do I have to pay?
The examination fee is CHF 600. –, regardless of which faculty you submit your doctoral thesis to.
Studies and Diploma

Which faculty will award me my diploma?
If you submit your thesis by the 2nd of June 2025, the Faculty of Humanities will award you your degree; if you submit it later, the Faculty of Education will award your degree.

Which title will I be awarded by the Faculty of Education?
You will be awarded the following titles:
- Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) in Scientia Paedagogica
- Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) in Paedagogia Speciali
Diplomas from the University of Fribourg are issued in Latin with an English translation. The title awarded is the same as the one you would have obtained from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Will my doctoral agreement be adapted?
No, the agreement you have concluded with your supervisor remains valid. You do not have to submit it to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Education.

Which doctoral regulations apply?
If you submit your thesis before the 2nd of June 2025, the Doctoral Regulations of the Faculty of Humanities will apply; if you submit your thesis after that date, the Doctoral Regulations of the Faculty of Education and Training will apply; transitional measures will be set out in these regulations. The Doctoral Regulations can be consulted here.

Where do I submit my doctoral thesis?
Until the 2nd of June 2025, you must submit your thesis to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Humanities. If you wish to submit your thesis later, you must submit it to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Education.

Do I have to do anything to transfer to the new faculty?
No, the transfer is automatic, you do not need to do anything.
