Candidates should have acquired a PhD-degree in Earth Sciences and should have a strong research profile in process-orientated sedimentology using high-end analytical and quantitative methods. The candidate should demonstrate strong interdisciplinary skills and show willingness to work together with other research groups at the University of Fribourg, especially the research group ‘Sedimentology and Paleo-environment’. Research must be supported by raising external funds.

The candidate will have to take on vital lab responsibility by running one of several available platforms at the Department of Geosciences (e.g., SEM, micro-CT scanner, experimental and geochemical lab). Experience with one of the above-mentioned lab techniques and/or platforms is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in the broad domains of general geology, field mapping and sedimentology at the Bachelor and MSc level with special emphasis on the organization of field and laboratory courses. The candidate should be able to teach bachelor courses in one of the two official languages of the University, French or German (after an appropriate learning period, if necessary) and Master courses in English. Teaching experience at university level is expected.
