Biography

Since February 2023, I have been a doctoral student at the Environmental Science and Humanities Institute at the University of Fribourg. In my doctoral thesis, I address the normative implications of ‘climate losses and damages’ – negative impacts of climate change that can no longer be averted. I am particularly interested in the institutionalisation of climate justice for such ‘losses and damages’ and the associated ethical challenges, such as questions of procedural justice of international institutions.

Besides my doctoral thesis, I am interested in a wide range of topics in political philosophy and applied ethics, in particular the interplay between justice and freedom, as well as the realisation of justice beyond classical political institutions. I am also interested in the philosophy of social science and the methodology of philosophy, especially the implications of social complexity for ethical theory building.

I obtained my bachelor's degree in philosophy and political science from the University of Lucerne and went on to complete a master's degree in the history and philosophy of knowledge at ETH Zurich. In addition to my academic work in philosophy, I am also on the board of the philosophie.ch association.
