In the heart of the earth - How a deep-sea borehole expands our understanding of geological processes

Esther Schwarzenbach, a scientist at the Department of Geosciences, played a key role in analyzing the rock samples, which were taken from over 1200 meters below the seabed. In December 2024, she was in Texas in person, where she examined the samples in detail together with the petrology team at the drill core storage facility in College Station and gained valuable insights into the geological processes of the Earth's crust.
