About Us
The Center for Faith & Society relies on the renewing power of the Gospel and seeks to contribute to the renewal of the Church and Christian witness in today's world.
We promote:
- The connection between vibrant spirituality, academic reflection, and church life.
- Committed Christian ways of life in the diverse contexts of the present.
- Constructive and critical Christian contributions to cultural renewal, presenting the Gospel in an appealing way to a broad audience.
Our guiding principle is the pursuit of a cross-denominational, hopeful cultural witness in the 21st century.
Activities
To achieve this goal, we work on three levels: research and theological groundwork, further education, and public engagement (with a focus on media work).
Forum Faith & Society
We organize the ecumenical Forum Faith & Society, which attracts around 600 people annually from various church and academic backgrounds. The forum is held in collaboration with the Communauté de Taizé and is under the patronage of the Protestant Reformed Church of Switzerland (EKS), the Swiss Bishops' Conference (SBK), and the Association of Free Churches (Freikirchen.ch).
Cooperations
We are part of the Institute for Ecumenical Studies (ISO) at the Faculty of Theology in Fribourg and engage in diverse academic and ecclesial collaborations with other institutes and organizations. A list of further links can be found here.
