The SOFTENG group (Sofware Engineering) belongs to the Department of Informatics of the University of Fribourg and offers courses in business informatics (databases and web technologies) and in computer science (object oriented design patterns and frameworks, as well as advanced software engineering topics in the field of distributed services and agile developement methodologies).

The research of the group and its expertise focus on designing, implementing and testing highly distibuted middlewares to create large ecosystems of humans and smart things collaborating on complex tasks. In the past ten years, we focused on defining models for generating clean RESTful interfaces for IoT devices, on smart homes scenarii, and more recently on integrating blockchain technologies and Intel SGX enclaves for improving security and privacy.
