Application Process
Requirements : you are enrolled at the University of Fribourg/Switzerland at least from September to June of the next year (two semesters). You are fluent in English. Exchange students are welcome to participate in the Vis Moot.
The 32st Vis Moot will start in October 2024 and finish in March 2025. We are looking forward to finding motivated candidates for the Vis Moot team 2024/2025 that will have as good an experience as all previous participants did.
Applications shall include : Letter of Motivation, CV, Transcrit of grades and a short written assignment (the main text on 2-7 pages, plus list of sources), see instruction below :
- Please analyze the Vis Moot Case 2024 (https://www.vismoot.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/31st-Vis-Moot-Problem_incl-PO2.pdf) : focus especially on pp. 5-8, 30-32, 46-47, 54-55
- Prepare a short Memorandum, in which you defend one of the following positions (you can choose freely among the four options below) :
A) The new claim shall be admitted based on Article 23 of the ICC Rules (Claimant’s position, question 1).
B) The new claim shall NOT be admitted based on Article 23 of the ICC Rules (Respondent’s position, question 1).
C) The Respondent shall NOT be exempted from liability based on Article 80 of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Claimant’s position, question 2).
D) The Respondent shall be exempted from liability based on Article 80 of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Respondent’s position, question 2).
