Krista Nadakavukaren Schefer is a Vice Director of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. She is also on the faculty of the World Trade Institute in Bern and is an adjunct instructor at the Universities of Basel, Bern, Fribourg, and Zurich.

Long interested in the intersection of international economic law and other areas international law, Dr. Nadakavukaren’s research has looked at poverty, corruption, human rights, and vulnerability on their own as well as in connection with the more traditional topics of trade and investment law. Her recent research has addressed the Sustainable Development Goal on poverty elimination and the impact of national security concerns on the international economic law system.

Krista is a native of the United States. She received her juris doctor from Georgetown University Law School, and her doctorate and Habilitation from the University of Bern.
