1999–2002: Assistant at the chair of Professor Franz Riklin
2002–2011: Lecturer in Criminal Law at the chairs of Professors Franz Riklin, Christof Riedo, and Marcel Alexander Niggli at the University of Fribourg. Research stays at the University of Bologna, the Institut d'Études Européennes at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and at Leiden University.
2011: Visiting professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest and at the Franco-Romanian College of European Studies.
2012: Visiting professor at the University of Málaga.
Since August 2012: Professor of International Criminal Law at the University of Fribourg.
Autumn Semesters 2013 and 2015–2024: Lecturer in Secondary Criminal Law at the University of Lucerne.
2014/15: Lecturer in Law for Non-Lawyers as part of the "QUALI+" program at the University of Fribourg.
Since Autumn Semester 2015: Lecturer in Road Traffic and Narcotics Law at FernUni Switzerland; Spring Semester 2016: Lecturer in Economic Criminal Law at FernUni Switzerland.
August 2017–January 2019: Dean of the German-language law programs at FernUni Switzerland.
