Biography

  • MA in German Studies, History and English at the Universities of Jena, Oxford and Berkeley (2001–2008)
  • PhD (2013) at the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies, Freie Universität Berlin (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Jutta Müller-Tamm) on world travel accounts by Georg Forster, Alexander von Humboldt and Adelbert von Chamisso
  • Post-doctoral projects (since 2015) in Berlin ("Transpacifica"), Freiburg and Bern (editor of the research volume for the edition "Alexander von Humboldt. Complete Writings")
  • Extensive experience in international academic management, including as Strategic Partnerships Coordinator at TH Wildau (2018–2021) and Head of the DAAD Office in Bangkok (2013–2015)
  • Master of Public Administration in Science Management at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer (2022, extra-occupational)
  • Since 2021 postdoctoral researcher and Habilitation candidate at the Chair of Medical Humanities, University of Fribourg
  • Development and coordination of Disability Studies at the Chair: research, teaching and international cooperation (including DFG Network "Inclusive Philology")
  • Habilitation project "Fragile Modernity" on representations of disability in Weimar Republic literature
  • Further research interests: travel literature, lyric studies, intercultural literary studies, autobiographical writing
