Acting patients

The programme is based on simulations and role plays within a clinical realism framework.

The simulated or standardised patient (SP) is a person trained to simulate the history of a real patient and to systematically reproduce the clinical signs, personality, body language and emotional reactions defined at the beginning. He or she is trained in such a way that a clinical doctor cannot recognise the simulation.

By being confronted with a realistic clinical situation in which the student can exercise his/her know-how (anamnesis, physical examination) and interpersonal skills (relationship and communication with the patient) without fear of harming a real patient, the student can in this way "arrange" the different registers of his/her knowledge and exercise different skills in a clinical situation.
