Biography

Stephanie Durrleman, Swiss and Jamaican, holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Geneva. Her work explores language in a variety of populations: typical and atypical, monolingual and bilingual, children and adults. This research spans speakers of numerous languages (e.g. English, French, Creole, Catalan, Cantonese) and elucidates links between language and cognition, via experimental and corpus investigations, cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, giving rise to both theoretical and clinical applications. After being affiliated with two labs in Geneva (at the linguistics and psycholinguistics departments of the University of Geneva) in addition to two labs in France (at the CNRS of Lyon and Tours), she has joined the Faculty of Science and Medicine of the University of Fribourg as a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Professor, heading the “ABCCD” team focusing on Autism, Bilingualism, Cognitive and Communicative Development.
