Our mission

The Mobiliar Cluster for Resilience at the University of Fribourg focuses on key issues relating to the sustainability of society and the economy. It supports inter- and transdisciplinary research projects that develop practical solutions to strengthen resilience in Switzerland. To this end, the cluster brings together the skills of researchers from a variety of disciplines.

Economic and technological change, social and political upheaval and ecological challenges all call for flexible, sustainable solutions. Resilience is therefore a prerequisite for a viable society and economy. It can only be strengthened through collaboration between society, business and science. This is why the resilience research cluster at the University of Fribourg adopts a resolutely interdisciplinary approach.

Resilience in society and the economy

Fribourg's full-service university enables a global approach. The resilience research cluster brings together expertise from a wide range of disciplines. In the current funding period (2024-2026), research projects focus on four themes:

  1. Forms of civic engagement, social cohesion and the sustainable economy
  2. Legal framework, political structures and pedagogical knowledge on managing linguistic and cultural diversity
  3. Sustainable development with a focus on Switzerland's competitiveness
  4. Switzerland's digital reputation in the age of artificial intelligence
