Der 7. Osteuropatag des Interfakultären Instituts für Ost- und Mitteleuropa dreht sich um das Thema «Russian Challenges: Between Freedom and Energy» bzw. um die jüngste politische Entwicklung Russlands. Zur Sprache kommen die politische Instrumentalisierung von Energieressourcen und die sich daraus ergebende Bedeutung sowohl für Russland als auch für die internationale Staatengemeinschaft. Die mögliche Transformation des russischen Staates zum „Petrostate" soll kritisch analysiert werden.

Prominenter Gast am Osteuropatag ist Grigory Yavlinsky, Vorsitzender der Yabloko Partei. Grigory Yavlinksy wird um 17: 20 Uhr zum Stand der Demokratie in Russland sprechen und Fragen aus dem Publikum beantworten.
