Doc.Mobility: Financing the mobility of doctoral students contracted by UniFR

The UniFR Doc.Mobility 2021-2024 programme was created when the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) discontinued their own Doc.Mobility programme. It is funded in equal parts by the University of Fribourg and Swissuniversities, and offers to all PhD students who are employed by the University of Fribourg as doctoral assistants the opportunity of bulking up their CV by increasing their mobility, something that has become an important aspect of any successful academic trajectory. Indeed, the Doc.Mobility grant enables UniFR doctoral students to fund a 6 to 12-month research stay at an institution abroad, before coming back to finish their doctoral thesis at the University of Fribourg.

This opportunity is for the moment limited in time, until the 1st of March 2024 (last planned submission deadline). It is open to all doctoral students who have been employed by the university for at least 12 months prior to submission, upon condition that they not be already subsidised by the SNSF (for the latter, see the SNSF's “Mobility Grants in Projects” scheme).

In addition to travel costs, the Doc.Mobility grant funds the doctoral student's personal upkeep whilst abroad. A subsidy for children, as well as other social contributions, may apply. All information is available on the UniFR's Doc.Mobility webpage.

The next deadline for Doc.Mobility applications will be the 1st September 2022, with a start at the earliest 3 months after the submission deadline.
