New start-up grant launched at the University of Fribourg
The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Service is introducing a new start-up grant to assist in the creation of start-ups by enabling them to protect their intellectual property at an early stage and by granting favourable conditions for the licensing of technologies to start-ups created by researchers at the University. Each year, we aim to support one to two projects with grants of up to CHF 150,000. Members of the University of Fribourg community, including employees, students, continuing education trainees, or alumni with a start-up project, are eligible to apply for this funding.
While proof-of-concept grants are aimed at increasing the chances of success for early-stage projects, helping them access federal funding such as Bridge and Innosuisse, the new start-up grant focuses on spin-offs that have already secured competitive federal funding. Its goal is to enhance their market readiness and improve their ability to attract venture capital.
Applications are open from 15 September to 1 December 2024. For more details, visit our webpage at https://www.unifr.ch/innovation/en/innovation2/support-for-start-ups/ or contact us at techtransfer@unifr.ch.
