No Agreement with Oxford University Press

Despite intensive negotiations, the Swiss University Library Consortium has not been able to reach an agreement with Oxford University Press (OUP) to renew the licence for online access to OUP journals. In the absence of such a licence, online access to articles published by OUP from January 2022 onwards is not possible. Access is maintained for journals and years for which a license existed before 2022. If you have any questions, please contact your library.

The member institutions of the consortium, among them the BCU, are currently evaluating how to respond to this situation, while maintaining strong pressure on the publisher. Within the Cantonal and University Library (BCU) and its decentralised libraries at the University, more than 40 titles can be physically consulted.

In this context, the University and the BCU recall the importance of not paying a fee (APC = Article Processing Charges) to publish Open Access articles in hybrid journals. Open Access publication in hybrid journals is only recommended in the case of a Read&Publish agreement, allowing a cost control mechanism.
