Publication process

Once your thesis has been accepted by the Faculty, we invite you to contact the Coordination Office of the Documentation Centres & Open Science  at e-thesis@unifr.ch.

This service will guide you through the process and will coordinate with the Faculty, UNIPRINT and the BCU. They will send you a form to complete with your personal information, details of your thesis and the desired distribution conditions (Creative Commons licence, definition of an embargo in the case of exclusivity with a publisher). You will also need your ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). A DOI (Digital Object Identifier) will be assigned to your publication.

Only final versions of the thesis approved by the faculty will be accepted.

Before submitting your thesis for publication please consult with the faculty responsible person at the decanat to ensure all regulations are followed.

Please contact us in advance if you think that the publication of your work is restricted by publishing rights and requires an embargo. The theses will be available online within 4 weeks of the start of the procedure. No corrections after publishing will be possible. The thesis is archived to the Swiss National Library, and therefore cannot be withdrawn.

ORCID

Creating an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) account is free, fast and easy. It provides researchers with a unique, permanent 16-digit identifier, which they can use throughout their career.

ORCiD's interoperability with a wide range of institutions and data providers will help to extend the visibility of research activities.

Creative Commons Licenses

A Creative Commons (CC) License is a contract chosen by an author to define the conditions for distributing and re-using her or his work, while retaining the author's rights. It is free to use and allows six different types of licence to be generated.
For scientific publications, the University recommends using the CC BY License.

The Coordination Office of the Documentation Centres & Open Science will be happy to help you make the right choice.
