Holding a BSc degree in Telecommunications from Lanzhou Jiaotong University in China and a MSc degree in Business Administration with a major in Health Economics from the ZHAW School of Management and Law, Dong had worked in China and Switzerland for international companies in various fields such as market development, corporate product management, supply chain controlling and SAP APO systems analysis. She had also worked as an expatriate for an international Swiss company as it established its head office in Shanghai, China. She is currently a lecturer at the Center for Culture and Creativity in International Business at the ZHAW School of Management and Law, teaching courses on intercultural management, international business and supervising student work. After completing her pre-doctoral courses at the University of Fribourg, Dong continues engaging in research on the topics of cross-cultural management in Chinese and Western collaborative enterprises. In particular, her thesis focuses on the development of trust within and between organizations in international joint ventures and cross-border mergers & acquisitions.

Dong enjoys doing various sports in her free time, such as tennis, dancing, skiing and running. She is very involved in cultural exchange activities between the Chinese and the Swiss, particularly in the field of children's education.
