The Knowledge and Technology Transfer services of UNIFR and the Adolphe Merkle Institute recently hosted an inspiring BioAlps INSIDE event, highlighting cutting-edge research on neuroscience, translational imaging, and advanced materials science.
On March 20, 2025, the University of Fribourg (UNIFR), together with the Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI), welcomed members of the Swiss Health Valley community for an exciting BioAlps INSIDE event. Participants explored innovative research bridging lab breakthroughs and real-world healthcare applications.
The event offered compelling insights into interdisciplinary research. The Section of Medicine demonstrated its cutting-edge neuroscience initiatives, from advanced animal models and clinical drug research to novel digital health applications. Participants experienced firsthand UNIFR's unique flight simulator, testing neural functions in both routine and extreme scenarios, highlighting practical applications in elite sports performance and healthy aging. Additionally, visitors toured the new state-of-the-art imaging laboratories at Pérolles Campus, revealing how unified pre-clinical and clinical research facilities accelerate pharmacological and oncological breakthroughs.
At AMI, visitors gained an inside look at world-leading multidisciplinary research in smart materials aimed at addressing critical health and environmental challenges. Researchers shared their latest innovations, illustrating opportunities for collaboration.
