Habilitation
Awarded by the Faculty, the habilitation is a higher education diploma which allows the candidate to teach in the field at the University level. People who have a habilitation are can use the title of Privat-docent.
Candidates for habilitation must hold a doctorate. The habilitation procedure, in particular the prerequisites, documents to be submitted and steps in the procedure, are described in the Habilitation Regulations. When the procedure is initiated, a habilitation commission is appointed by the Faculty Council, which meets three times a semester (dates in the faculty calendar). The entire procedure may take six months or more.
The habilitation diploma is awarded at the graduation ceremony of Masters, doctorates, and habilitations.
