    Description

    Available Seats : 20

In the Advanced Seminar in European Business, students write a seminar thesis on a specific topic, present this thesis to the audience (i.e. the Chair and to the other participants of the seminar) and discuss their seminar thesis with the audience.

The seminar thesis will be max. 20 pages (plus references) and it will refer to a specific topic that should be analysed based on academic concepts, theory and theoretical approaches as well as empirical information (e.g. case studies). Literature to be considered includes textbooks, other academic literature, but also company/industry information. The paper has to be turned in by the end of April.

A list of topics will be provided and we try to give each student one of her/his prefered topics.

A more detailed information package, containing the formal guidelines, will be handed out in the compulsory information session on the seminar in the second week of lectures in spring semester.

The seminar presentation will take about 30 minutes, followed by some time for discussion. The grade for the Advanced Seminar in International and European Business is composed of a grade for the written seminar thesis (60%) and a grade for the seminar itself (i.e. presentation, discussion, participation) (40%).

The syllabus of the seminar will available on the website of the Chair for International Management www.unifr.ch/intman.

    Training objectives

The objective of this seminar is to teach students to analyse a specific international topic in a their own, based on empirical information and theoretical literature, and to present and defend their analysis in front of an audience.

    Condition of access

The number of participants in this course is limited to 20; hence, a selection of good and motivated students is made. We therefore place you on the waiting list upon registration and in the second week of the semester, we select the 20 students that can participate.

For this selection process, you must send a short application to one of the assistand for this course (listed above) by e-mail. This should include a short motivation letter and a grade list (already completed courses in the master, plus grades in bachelor).

You should send these documents at the latest when you register online but you can already submit them before the registration opens.
