    Description

In this second part of the Master’s Colloquium addressed to the students in their fourth semester (or in the semester following their MA fieldwork) we focus on how to transcribe, code and analyze the research material. We also learn how to compose reference lists and continue discussing what makes good academic writing.

In the course students acquire basic skills in using the transcription, coding and bibliographic software (F4, MAXQDA, ENDNOTE, ZOTERO). Further, they present progress in their research and discuss it with the peers and the instructor. Parallel to this, students are regularly in touch with their thesis supervisors. The supervisors offer guidance on matters pertaining to the specific topic of the theses, for example on the scope and contents of the literature review, and on the conceptual framework of the thesis.

    Training objectives

This course will assist students to:

    • Reflect on and sharpen their analytic and academic writing skills
    • Give and receive thoughtful feedback on their own and other students’ work
    • Identify research questions, formulate theses, find suitable research methods
    • Identify challenges of their MA projects and creatively solve them
    • Practice and improve upon their academic oral presentation skills
