Description	The goal of this thematic seminar is to provide students with the opportunity to present a mathematical topic in a seminar format. The seminar will focus on sub-Riemannian geometry, a rich field of study that connects several domains of pure mathematics like differential geometry, metric geometry, analysis on metric spaces and the theory of Lie groups, with applications in control theory and optimization. The primary reference for this course are the "Lecture Notes on Sub-Riemannian Geometry" by Enrico Le Donne. An online version is available at  https://sites.google.com/view/enricoledonne/ An updated version of these lecture notes will be shared with students during the course.   Basic knowledge of differential manifolds, tangent spaces and vector fields is sufficient background for much of the seminar, while some of the more advanced topics will require further prerequisites. The seminar will primarily be conducted in English. However, presentations in German or French are also welcome.
