Status of Visiting Researcher at the University of Fribourg
The status of visiting researcher is intended for people who are affiliated with another research institution and are working on a project that requires them to come to the University of Fribourg for a research stay.

Conditions
The following conditions must be met to qualify for the status of visiting researcher:
- Be invited by a Unifr professor or a senior researcher (MER/LFR),
- Be affiliated with another research institution (Note: emeriti Professors are considered as affiliated),
- Conduct research that corresponds to the field of competence of the hosting department,
- Hold a Master's degree,
- Be physically present at the University of Fribourg on a regular basis throughout the stay.

Duration
The duration of the stay at the University of Fribourg is limited to 12 months, with the possibility of a one-time extension for a maximum period of 12 months.

Benefits
The status of visiting researcher at Unifr gives access to the following benefits, irrespective of the duration of the stay:
- Official attestation
- Administrative support from the Welcome Center for Academics
For stays that last longer than one month, the following services may be requested:
- Unifr IT-account and e-mail address
- Campus Card
- Access to the bibliographic resources of the Bibliothèque cantonale et universitaire via the IT-account

Fees
There is no fee for stays lasting up to a month.
A single fee of CHF 100 is charged for processing the application of researchers staying more than 1 month at the University of Fribourg.
