Biography
Manéli Farahmand holds a joint PhD between the Universities of Lausanne and Ottawa in social sciences of contemporary religions. Her research focused on Mayan neo-shamanism in a transnational and multi-site ethnographic perspective. Previously, she worked several years for NGOs specialized in human rights. She is currently director of the Intercantonal Center for Information on Beliefs (CIC) and post-doctoral researcher at Unifr. She represents Switzerland in the ISSR Council. Her post-doctoral work focuses on the interconnections between new spiritualities and "body awarness groups" in Switzerland.
