IBL Data Protection and Privacy Policy
Article 13 of the Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation, Article 12 of the Constitution of the Canton of Fribourg, and relevant Swiss data protection legislation, including the Federal Data Protection Act (FADP), provide that everyone has the right to the protection of their privacy and protection against the misuse of their personal and sensitive data. The Institute for International Business Law at the University of Fribourg strictly observes these provisions. Additionally, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (EU).
Personal Data Processing
Personal data is treated confidentially and is neither sold nor transmitted to third parties without the consent of the person concerned, except where required for legitimate purposes related to the administration and teaching of courses, graduation, and/or marketing activities.
Website Usage Data
No personal data is recorded when accessing the homepage. However, the IP address is recorded, which does not identify an individual but the machine (device) communicating with the University of Fribourg’s internet server at the time of the request.
The University of Fribourg’s internet server only records non-personal statistical data through cookies to analyze the use of the site, such as files, logs, and usage statistics. Google Analytics (GA) is used on some sites to analyze site traffic and audience behavior. All data collected through Google Analytics is anonymized and does not identify individual users. Additionally, Google Captchas and Google Tag Manager are used on certain pages, temporarily, to improve navigation and content. The data collected through these tools is also anonymized and does not include personal identification. Usage data collected via cookies is not linked to personal data.
