Summary: Myocardial infarction remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide, with the limited regenerative capacity of the adult heart posing a significant challenge. Building on foundational concepts of cell fate, the role of the microenvironment, and cellular communication introduced during the teaching session, this presentation explores their relevance to cardiac tissue repair.
Specifically, it highlights the latest advancements in cell-based therapies, focusing on biomaterials, cellular secretomes, and the reparative role of macrophages. Preclinical findings from ongoing projects will be discussed, offering insights into the translational potential of macrophage polarization and its impact on myocardial regeneration
